GOP Plan to Kill Social Security: Caught Red-Handed Now Tap Dancing Begins

Fox's John Roberts rips Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL)
(Catches him red-handed lying)

Very Big News Story: Fox News John Roberts crushes Sen. Rick Scott’s (R-FL) attempt to dismiss his agenda as: “Democrat Talking Points” – saying:It’s in Your Plan!”

The Fox story here – details below with video via YouTube – and this related coverage from the Washington Post, and also here from Salon.com.

Fox News John Roberts stopped Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) in his tracks when Scott tried to sidestep confronting questions about his controversial 11-step “Rescue America” plan by insisting the anchor was using “Democrat talking points.”

Roberts brought up Scott’s plan on “Fox News Sunday” making specific mention that one provision would directly strike senior citizens and those in need.

Roberts reading directly from the proposal quoted from the plan: All federal legislation sunsets in five years. If a law is worth keeping, Congress can pass it again.”

Roberts then pointed out that the plan could, feasibly, lead to the end of Social Security and Medicare in five years. Turning to Scott, Roberts asked:Why would you propose something like that in an election year?”

Scott answered:That’s, of course, the Democrat talking points.”

Roberts immediately interrupted Scott saying:No, it’s in the plan! It’s in the plan!”

Scott attempted to continue on that train of thought, but Roberts cut him off again saying: Hang on, Senator. It’s not a Democratic talking point. It’s in the plan.”

Scott pressed on saying:No one that I know of wants to sunset Medicare or Social SecurityBut what we’re doing is we don’t even talk about it, we ought to figure out how we preserve those programs.”

FYI: According to Forbes, Republican senators have proposed a commission to balance the budget within a decade, writing:Given that four of the five sponsors of this idea have signed on to the tax pledge to never, ever under any circumstances raise taxes, they are looking for programs to cut. They consequently take aim mainly at cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.”

Earlier this month, GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) voiced his opposition to Scott’s “Rescue America” plan saying:We will not have as part of our agenda a bill that raises taxes on half the American people and sunsets Social Security and Medicare within five years. That will not be part of the Republican Senate Majority agenda.”

Now watch the Sen. Scott–FOX video below (10-minutes) – good lesson:

Sen Rick Scott (R-FL)
(Nailed on Fox News Sunday)

My 2 Cents: History does repeat itself – classic example in this story with this my thought: Here we go again … GOP has a written plan to kill Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid “…to save money and reduce government spending.”

How many American live on Social Security alone do you suppose? Simple research shows: That about 61 million Americans collect Social Security benefits each month, and 40% of that number live on that as one source of their income (some 24.4 million).

Medicare is included in Social Security and paid for from the monthly Social Security check.

Leave it to the GOP to always work hard to cut government spending and taxes first target is Social Security and Medicare (and the so-called “free stuff”) and then – now wait for it – give tax breaks to the top 1-2% to “create jobs” like they did in 2017 under Trump, who BTW got a huge tax break, too.

So, when will we wake up to this GOP horse crap?

Scott’s 11-point plan is very troubling regardless of McConnell’s weak answer.

They are all cut from the same hardcore RW cloth now owned and operated by Trump - a fact.

So, stay tuned, it might get very ugly if they win the majority in 2022.

Thanks for stopping by.
