Based on the following CNBC story and breaking news also below, I suspect Mark Meadows’ pucker factor just went up 90 points.
The CNBC story and headline:
“Trump White House
chief of staff Mark Meadows blows off appearance at January 6 Capitol riot
House panel”
· Trump’s White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows (R-NC) (seen above) failed to appear for a scheduled deposition before the House Select committee
investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.
· Meadows' lawyer has said he is following the
direction of Trump who argues that executive privilege protects Meadows from
testifying.
· Former White House advisor Steve Bannon was held
in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with his own subpoena from the
panel.
· The riot erupted after Trump and allies urged
supporters to protest against the confirmation of the EC victory of Joe Biden.
Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows failed to appear Friday for a scheduled deposition for the select House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot. Meadows' no-show at the panel, which was expected after his lawyer said he would not appear despite a subpoena demanding his testimony, could lead to him being found in contempt of Congress, the panel previously warned.
That,
in turn, could lead to a referral to the DOJ for possible criminal charges, the
panel's chairman said just like for Steve Bannon – that updated is linked above.
BREAKING
NEWS here on Steve Bannon with this story highlight: Steve Bannon, Trump’s
former political strategist, was indicted by a grand jury (November 12) on two
charges of criminal contempt for defying a House subpoena.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
My 2 Cents: This Bannon indictment is very good news. My educated
guess is that Mark Meadows will follow suit and contact the committee offering to
testify ASAP.
Others also resisting
subpoenas, on Trump orders, are now on very thin ice. They probably are ready
to cut deals. We shall see.
Stay tuned, and thanks for
stopping by.
