From NEWSWEEK honest evaluation of the “new Trump owned and operated GOP” with this headline:

“Republican Adam Kinzinger Says Lies Are Standard Under Trump, McCarthy Leadership”

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) assessed that lies are “standard under the leadership of House GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Trump.”

Kinzinger, a staunch Trump critic, made the remark on Twitter after McCarthy claimed that the GOP congressman had angled to become Air Force secretary for the former president. The Illinois Republican quickly rejected the claim. 

Kinzinger then sent a tweet to CNN reporter, Malanie Zanona, highlighting what McCarthy said as a: “A complete lie. Standard nowadays in the Trump/McCarthy playbook.”

Reporter Zanona had written: “McCarthy told me Kinzinger was once lobbying to serve as Trump's Air Force secretary, and even asked McCarthy to put a word in with Trump. During the Trump administration, no one called me more for a job, McCarthy said.”

Kinzinger officially announced last week that he would not be seeking reelection in the 2022 midterms. That announcement came after a new electoral map was approved in Illinois, which merged Kinzinger's district with that of another Republican who has remained supportive of Trump. 

Although Kinzinger could have run a primary against his fellow GOP lawmaker, he appeared unlikely to win considering his fierce opposition to the former president.

Kinzinger also was among the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump after his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6. 

Now, along with Liz Cheney he is one of the only two Republicans appointed to House Select committee looking into the January 6 Capitol attack.

Will it matter – who knows, but I suspect that McCarthy doesn’t care what Kinzinger or Cheney or anyone else thinks, as long as he stays on Trump’s side along with only thought on his mind which he has had for a very long time: To become the next House Speaker.

I personally predict that won’t happen as more and more people wise up to McCarthy and Trump and their tons of lies and cheap antics. 

But, we will have to wait and see. After all the Trump base is pretty much stuck on him, thus only time will tell, so stay tuned.
