Trump’s Nazism Ploy: Pitting His "United Reich" Against the Biden's "Gestapo"

I'll sustain the Nazi legend, Herr Führer

From CBS News this headline and very disturbing article:

“Trump social media account shares video mentioning Unified Reich”

A 30-second video posted to Trump's account on his social media network Monday included references to a “Unified Reich” among hypothetical news headlines depicting an election win by him in November.

The headline appears among messages flashing across the screen such as “Trump wins!!” and “Economy booms!” Other headlines appear to be references to World War I.

The word “Reich” is largely associated with Nazi Germany's Third Reich, though the references in the video Trump shared appear to be a reference to the formation of the modern pan-German nation, unifying smaller states into a single Reich, or Empire, in 1871.

More:

Earlier this month, Trump said at a fundraiser that Biden is running: Gestapo administration: (referring to the secret Nazi police force). Trump also has used rhetoric echoing Adolf Hitler when he said immigrants entering the U.S. illegally were: “Poisoning the blood of our country, while calling his opponents vermin.”

The former president has also drawn wide backlash for having dined with Holocaust-denying white nationalist Nick Fuentes in 2022 and for downplaying the 2017 rally in Charlottesville, VA, where white nationalists chanted: “Jews will not replace us!” Trump later said in a public speech: “There were good people on both sides.”

At least one of the headlines flashing in the video appears to be text that is copied verbatim from a Wikipedia entry on World War I:German industrial strength and production had significantly increased after 1871, driven by the creation of a Unified Reich.”

The video appeared on Trump's account at a time while he seeks to portray President Biden as soft on antisemitism, while he himself has repeatedly faced criticism for using language and rhetoric associated with Nazi Germany.

The video was posted and shared on Trump’s “Truth Social” account page while he was on a lunch break from his Manhattan trial. It remained there until being removed the following morning.

Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s campaign press secretary, said in a statement:This was not a campaign video; it was created by a random account online and reposted by a staffer who clearly did not see the word (Reich), while the president was in court.” [Note: The campaign later updated the statement saying it was posted by a “Junior staffer.”]

A Biden White House spokesperson condemned the video shared on Trump's account, with Senior Deputy White House Communications Director Andrew Bates saying: “It is abhorrent, sickening, and disgraceful for anyone to promote content associated with Germany's Nazi government under Adolf Hitler. Any anti-Semitic dog whistling is dangerous and offensive — and profoundly un-American.”

The Biden-Harris campaign also spoke out, as AFP reported, accusing Trump of a “long history of anti-Semitic behavior” and in a statement spokesperson James Singer said:Donald Trump is not playing games. He is telling America exactly what he intends to do if he regains power to rule as a dictator, and above the “Unified Reich” heading it read: “Border is now closed and 15 Million Illegal Aliens Deported” and that had smaller below showing the start and end dates of World War I.

Then Trump's lackey wacky spokesman Steven Cheung posted as he always does for Trump said: It is a ridiculous assertion. Those who try to make that ridiculous assertion are clearly snowflakes grasping for anything because they are suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), and their sad, miserable existence will be crushed when President Trump returns to the White House.”

My 2 Cents: I say very simply: There is nothing any crazier than that from Trump and Cheung – or never will be. We shall see.

Thanks for stopping by.
