A highly respected
and seasoned former FBI official cautioned that a Russian intelligence file
that was reportedly lost near the end of former President Donald Trump's tenure
could “get somebody killed if it makes its way to the Kremlin.”
The binder, which contains U.S. and NATO-ally “raw intelligence” on Russia and Russian agents, could only be viewed by legislators and congressional aides, according to the original CNN reporting.
The “Crossfire Hurricane” document was related to Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, a claim which both Trump and Russia have vehemently denied.
That agent, Frank
Figliuizzi, the former assistant director for counterintelligence at the FBI,
warned during an interview on MSNBC that the lost document poses a potential
threat if clandestine information is leaked, saying: “We've got to know
what happened with this binder and more importantly, whether this was a mere
accident or whether the intention was to hand it to Russia to expose U.S. Intel
sources and methods against Russia.”
Figliuzzi was asked about Trump's comments made at a recent campaign
event in NH in which Trump invoked Vladimir Putin and targeted immigrants,
saying: “They've poisoned the blood of our country.”
Figluizzi went on to
say: “I'm seldom at a loss for words, but when we have a candidate — a
leading candidate, by the way — for his party's nomination for president,
quoting our adversary Vladimir Putin to claim that somehow we are less than a
democracy, or that democracy is a charade, we need to pay attention.”
He then added: “What's
troubling here is that this document, this missing binder that's allegedly ten
inches thick is filled with un-redacted, raw intelligence reporting. That means
a person who's positioned and knows, who's reading this — maybe a Russian
official — can easily discern sources and methods from it. All of that could
literally get somebody killed or cause us to lose well-placed technical methods
that are in place. So it's a mystery where this goes.”

Former
President Donald Trump may have sold a binder with classified
information to Russia, his estranged niece, Mary Trump, alleged on Friday.
The binder in question contained raw intelligence that the
United States and its North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
allies collected on Russia's alleged election interference in 2016, when Trump
beat his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton for the presidency, among other documents, according to
Reuters who spoke with a source familiar with the matter. Russia has denied
interfering in the election, while the former president has repeatedly called
the FBI
investigation into the alleged election interference a hoax.
In January 2017, the ODNI released
an assessment that found Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government disparaged Clinton through a
disinformation and cyberattack campaign to better “Trump's election chances.”
The whereabouts of the binder are currently unknown as it went missing during the last days of Trump's presidency (re: Reuters news).
CNN was the first to report the missing binder and The New York Times has also reported on it.
Mary Trump, who has emerged as one of Trump's fiercest critics, wrote about what could have happened to the missing binder in a Friday blog post.
One of those possibilities was that the documents inside the binder “were sold or given to Russia.”
Mary Trump warned that if this was the case, whoever sold the documents could
receive life in prison under the Espionage Act if they were caught.

According to a
report from CNN, U.S. intelligence officials are searching for a missing file
containing highly sensitive information about Russia as well as information about Russian interference in the 2016election.
As the report notes, the fact that the file, also containing
intel compiled by NATO allies can't be found and was last seen in the
possession of Trump. That has both senior U.S. Intel officials and European
allies concerned.
According to CNN:
“The intelligence was so sensitive that lawmakers and congressional aides with
top-secret security clearances were able to review the material only at CIA
headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where their work scrutinizing it was itself
kept in a locked safe. The binder was last seen at the White House during
Trump’s final days in office. The former president had ordered it brought there
so he could declassify a host of documents related to the
FBI’s Russia investigation. Under the care of then-White House Chief of Staff,
Mark Meadows, the binder was scoured by Republican aides working to redact the
most sensitive information so it could be declassified and released publicly. According to the report, just before President Joe Biden was to be
inaugurated, Meadows took a redacted copy back to the DOJ, but since then, the
un-redacted file has been missing.
CNN further reports: “U.S officials repeatedly declined to discuss any government efforts to locate the binder or confirm that any intelligence was missing. The binder was not among the classified items found in last year's search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, that according to a U.S official familiar with the matter. The FBI was not looking specifically for intelligence related to Russia when it obtained a search warrant for the former president’s residence last year.”

My 2 Cents: I have said ever since that large batch of the classified docs were found at Mar-a-Lago (or not found and lied to about even being held there by Trump and his protectors), that is now part of the 4 criminal indictments against Trump and is by far the biggest and most-serious of all in my view.
Why do I say that? For one
simple reason as stated in this CNN and RAWSTORY joint-article: That is we
don’t know what is missing and contained but it seems I surely benefits and protects
Putin and Russia and Trump on numerous levels of importance, and especially as
it relates to Russian 2016 election interference aimed at supporting Trump. Who
else knows what it contains, or what nefarious whatever things about Trump that
Putin is holding over his head is contains.
FYI: I have held a Secret, then
T/S, and that was upgraded to T/S (SCI) level clearance and access since 1973.
I know that any document like that which is now missing is the most highly
guarded and classified of all documents, and now nobody knows where it is or
what it contains.
My best guess is that it
is probably with Vladimir Putin – why? Well, that is only known by Putin and
Trump – and that’s the problem. My best hunch
