FL GOP Gov. DeSantis: Must Never be Elected to the Oval Office Tragic if So

I don’t know nuthin’ about nuthin’
(Maybe I’ll read up on Mao)

Here, Governor, we compared you to Mao
(Note: Not many differences, oops)

My way or the highway

Late addition to the following is this fine article worth reading from here to again reinforce the absolute nuttiness or any one of these synonyms absurdity, idiocy, insanity, lunacy, madness, and nonsense to describe FL GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis and his “culture war” or as some who know him and his past now call it: “His race to dystopia.” The story headline:

“Florida is doing a speed run to a dystopian future – DeSantis deletes race from The Rosa Parks Story”

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Main Post: Extensive and Growing Background on Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis and his “Culture War.”

Cite the following as proof of his craziness that he now says he wants for the entire country.

FYI for DeSantis and anyone else: Culture is defined as all the ways of life including arts, beliefs, and such in the institutions of a population that are passed down from generation to generation such as (but not limited to): Codes of manners, dress, language, religion, rituals (marriage and death), education, speech, justice system, art, law and order, and other things all around us.

Sad reminders about DeSantis as some Republicans and many Democrats push messages of hope and unity vis-à-vis the “culture wars” that are set to be a feature of the 2024 presidential campaign.

This all the while DeSantis and MAGA-Trump types push their views into their category of “Culture War” and plant their flag everywhere with misplaced outrage about almost everything.

Outrage is click bait.

Outrage garners headlines.

Outrage taps deep into our emotional cores to increase loyalty to our own tribe while escalating animosity of the other side.

Outrage often works to win elections.

The so-called “culture wars are a symptom of the bigger problem of polarization and tribalism that has taken our country hostage.”

The real question for Republicans is whether GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis of FL can deliver him the GOP nomination among all true believers.

Can he prove to be a vote winner in mainstream America when weighed against: the economy, national security, and other major concerns like health care, public education, our judicial system, and speech that only he does or does not approve of?

1. DeSantis is attacking Disney (but, it’s backfiring on him).

2. He signs bills ordering people to “Don’t Say Gay.”

3. He says the death penalty is for rape attackers (which BTW the USSC ruled unconstitutional years ago).

4. He is against birth control; abortion pills to prevent unwanted pregnancy; and transgender medical procedures.

Okay, Gov: How about banning or outlawing Vasectomies for men in FL, stop selling or allowing men to buy Viagra (you know for them to get things up and running the way you want).

DeSantis has lost far more of his legal fights than he’s won.

The Miami Herald reported: “In case after case, courts have scaled back, thrown out, or left in legal limbo rules and laws that impose restrictions on social media giants; limit voting; curb gender-related health care; influence speech in the workplace, college campuses and classrooms; and create new crimes for peaceful protests.”

His bills and the cost to date has cost Florida taxpayers nearly $17 million to defend his culture war agenda in the courts.

FYI:

DeSantis and Republicans in FL have made it harder for Floridians to vote.

They have made it easier to ban books from school libraries and classrooms.

They approved a new 6-week abortion ban.

They created restrictions on the right to peaceably protest.

They tried to regulate social media companies “deplatforming” policies that are defined as: Any attempt to boycott a group or individual through removing the platforms (such as speaking venues or websites) used to share information or ideas, or the action or practice of preventing someone holding views regarded as unacceptable or offensive.”

DeSantis himself championed the “Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act” — or the “Stop WOKE Act.”

Those are designed for him to use the power of state government to target ideas about race and history that he many Republicans simply do not like.

Running List of DeSantis and FL Craziness:

1. Restrict how race and gender can be taught in Florida's public and higher education institutions, banning books funding race and diversity educational programs.

2. Would give students foundational skills and prevent people from imposing orthodoxies at public universities that marks an escalation of his broader conservative effort to limit the ways schools can teach about issues of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).”

He says it is better viewed as standing for “Discrimination, Exclusion, and Indoctrination” and having no place in our public institutions. He says: “This bill says the whole experiment with DEI is coming to an end in the state of Florida.”

3. He want his Republican majority to pass a bill that imposes new penalties on organizations that help illegal immigrants.

4. He signed a bill to reduce the ban on abortions from 15 weeks to six in Florida (the 15-week ban is still pending from the FL Supreme Court).

5. He targeted Disney in FL after they objected to his so-called “Don't Say Gay” bill. DeSantis stripped Disney of benefits protected under the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which allowed Disney to run as its own governing body for the past 50 years. Then the Central FL Tourism Oversight District, handpicked by DeSantis to oversee Walt Disney Worldrevealed that weeks before he signed the bill giving the state control of the land (it backfired on him).

FYI: Reedy Creek already had signed a deal with Disney that handed control of its development rights and special privileges to the company, essentially allowing Disney to remain self-governing thus stopping his move – which in essence backfired on him.

Guns: Not Only in FL But National Issue

This astonishing story of 3-year shooting two people in Indiana reported on here from ABC News. DeSantis may see this as a “crime fighting” opportunity for him, you think?

The so-called “stand your ground” gun laws applicable in public places, according to the nonprofit Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence allows person armed anywhere to claim after they shoot and possibly kill someone that the law as critics say is actually “a shoot first, ask questions later” excuse. That allows anyone who believes their life to be in danger to use lethal force in an act of self-defense, without any duty to retreat.

Eight states without those laws permit people to use deadly force in self-defense with no duty to retreat, based on judicial decisions and other factors as a simple: “Shoot first and then later ask why.”

Six states: Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Tennessee have provisions in their self-defense laws that prevent police from even arresting a person who claims they shot someone in self-defense.

THE LATEST between DeSantis and Disney’ turf/DON’T SAY GAY war. A long yet very timely message for DeSantis from Disney here from THE STREET with their headline … worth reading:

“Disney World Makes Its Boldest Anti-DeSantis Threats Yet”

Disney again sues DeSantis reported on here from DEADLINE:

Bye, bye to Gov DeSantis; Florida; and our $17b
(Explain that to the voters, Governor)

My 2 Cents: I’ll end this for today saying that DeSantis, just like Trump, wants to “lead the country” as a one-man ruler which as we know is: Being a dictator who is not restricted by any constitution, law, or opposition, etc.

That must ever be allowed to happen in our great, but now fragile country with anyone.

Thanks for stopping by.
