What a despicable act by Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) he is holding
up hundreds of military promotions due to his nasty childish stunt – which he
says: “I won’t let the military be politicized.”
What a crock, Senator. This is a 100% politicized raw political
stunt. Shame on you.
The story is seen in this short 3-minute Senate video clip as reported on from The HILL article taken from the MSNBC
spot with this headline:
“Tuberville blocks Warren’s
attempt to begin advancing 184 military promotions”
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has blocked a request by Sen.
Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) to allow 184 military promotions to move forward over
his objection to the Pentagon’s recently enacted abortion policy.
Sen. Warren argued on the Senate floor: “At this critical juncture of Russia’s
illegal invasion of Ukraine, we need her leadership in NATO now more than ever.”
However, Sen. Tuberville stood up to slap down Warren’s
request, asserting that the Pentagon’s policy is a violation of federal law, and
saying: “I warned Secretary Austin that if he did this and changed this, I
would put a hold on his highest-level nominees. Secretary Austin went through
with the policy anyway in February of this year, so I am keeping my word.”
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), the conservative chairman of the
Senate Republican Steering Committee, joined Tuberville on the floor to object
to Warren’s efforts to seek unanimous consent to advance the stalled military
promotions.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about
that today and she said: “This political showmanship could have a serious
impact on our military readiness, on our military forces and our national
security.”

My 2 Cents: I agree that this is a GOP one-man stunt. The remarks
in the video say it all. Shame on Sen. Tuberville and those who support him.
This will harm the military in a big way.
The main GOP
leadership must step and shut Tuberville down and let this normal process
continue as it has for years.
Thanks for stopping by.
