Another Trump Crime: Destroying or Hiding Official Presidential Records

Don-the-Ripper — No records of me in office
(Mar-a-Lago: Get the burn bags ready)

National presidential records must be protected – nope not for me says Trump and he proves it with this story headline from NBC News:

National Archives says Trump took 15 boxes of White House records to Florida

Fact: NBC News had not independently confirmed the contents of the boxes, but the National Archives said they were items that under the Presidential Records Act by law should have been turned over at the end of the Trump administration.

Trump had to return 15 boxes of documents that were improperly taken from the White House, the National Archives said Monday (February 7) in a statement adding in part:In mid-January 2022, NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) arranged for the transport from the Trump Mar-a-Lago property in Florida to the National Archives of 15 boxes that contained Presidential records, following discussions with President Trump’s representatives in 2021.” (Confirmed source: The Washington Post).

This disclosure comes almost a week after the agency revealed that Trump had torn up numerous documents when he was president that were supposed to have been preserved.

The Archives said last week:As has been reported in the press since 2018, White House records management officials during the Trump administration recovered and taped together some of the torn-up records.”

The Agency also said it believes Trump still has more records that need to be turned over, and that:Trump’s representatives have informed NARA that they are continuing to search for additional Presidential records that belong to the National Archives.”

Archivist David S. Ferriero added to the statement saying: The Presidential Records Act mandates that all Presidential records must be properly preserved by each Administration so that a complete set of Presidential records is transferred to the National Archives at the end of the Administration. The Archives pursues the return of records whenever we learn that records have been improperly removed or have not been appropriately transferred to official accounts.”

My 2 Cents: This is another illegal Trump act, and it is a pretty serious one, too.

I have to wonder: Were there any documents ripped up by Trump that were marked with any classifications of any kind? That is a critical national security issue. Trump keeps breaking rules and the law and still is not held accountable – why is that?

It seems that Trump is truly a Teflon Don – that is nothing seems to stick to him.

My concern is that the nation could pay a very heavy price for Trump’s ineptness in matters linked to his massive crimes and time in office and now possibly worse with another insurrection this year or certainly in 2024.

Thanks for stopping by.
