More Trump delaying tactics (that Roy Cohn taught him) to
avoid justice as
seen in this CNN story from New York State with this headline:
“Trump sues NY attorney general, seeking to stop investigation into his company”
Trump and his Trump Organization have sued New York State AG Letitia James, asking for a federal court to halt or limit her office's ongoing investigations.
The lawsuit, which comes on the heels of
James' office seeking to depose Trump as part of its civil fraud
investigation into the Trump Organization, also seeks to enjoin James'
involvement in any civil or criminal actions against Trump or his company.
The suit, filed in federal court in Northern New York accuses
James of misconduct, claiming she has abused her investigatory powers to target
her political adversaries and advance her career.
The Trump suit says in part: “Since taking office, she has
tirelessly bombarded him, his family and his business, Trump Organization LLC,
with unwarranted subpoenas in a bitter crusade to 'take on' the President.”
Attorneys for Trump ask for a declaratory judgment stating “…that
James has violated Trump and the Trump Org's rights, privileges and immunities
and that her investigations constitute impermissible state action" and an abuse
of power. Absent judicial relief, James will continue to violate Plaintiffs'
rights in an unconstitutional manner and Plaintiffs will suffer imminent and
irreparable harms.”
Trump further accuses James of: “Relentlessly pushing Manhattan
DA’s Cyrus Vance's office into a criminal investigation of the Trump
Organization.”
Note: A spokesman for
Vance's office declined to comment.
AG James’ office is investigating whether the Trump Organization manipulated the
value of its properties, and her office is also working with Vance’s office
on a parallel criminal investigation into the Trump Organization.
The two investigations are separate, but some attorneys from
James' office have been designated to work on the criminal investigation, which
is ongoing.
AG James responded to the suit in a statement saying the
Trump Organization has repeatedly attempted to delay her office's investigation
into its business dealings and calling his suit an attempted collateral attack.
Finally, a story that is somewhat
related to Trump’s lifelong criminal activities from this
extensive and very detailed Washington Post report with this headline that
shows some scary stuff about Trump lies and now his strong ties to China:
“Trump’s newest business partner: A Chinese
firm with a history of SEC investigations”
Trump’s new media dream: “TRUTH Social” is backed by a venture capitalist that runs a SPAC based in Wuhan, China.
It is the Shanghai-based “Arc Capital” an investment firm that has been the target of probes by the SEC.
It
is now at the center of the deal to take Trump’s media venture public for
billions of dollars.
Finally:
My 2 Cents: At this point let’s look at history on Trump’s suits
and delaying tactics – which he learned from the late great infamous criminal
lawyer and criminal himself, Roy Cohn – that
story is here with these three key points:
1.
The FBI in 2019 released nearly 750 pages of documents from the bureau’s
file on controversial lawyer Roy Cohn, whose clients included Trump when he was
just fledgling real estate mogul in New York City.
2.
“Where’s my Roy Cohn?” Trump was quoted lamenting when he was faced with
political and legal pressures.
3.
Cohn was the first of two personal lawyers for Trump to be disbarred.
The second was Trump’s more recent attorney and “fixer,” Michael Cohen, who
gave porn star Stormy Daniels hush money ($130,000) to keep her quiet about an
alleged sexual tryst with Trump.
I will say this about Trump:
He is clever, shrewd, criminally smart, and an excellent snake oil salesman. Sadly, he cares for nothing or anyone except himself.
That is all he knows and
has practiced his whole adult life now going on 50 years. His past record is
clear but is only now getting close scrutiny since his failed stint as
President.
Now, Trump’s criminal past has finally caught up with him and he will get prison time out of his reign of terror which appears to be extensive and very, very corrupt. Stay tuned.
