From the January 6 “Stop the Steal” organizer — who recently said he will
accept the House subpoena and testify rather than saying no and going jail.
His
story is here from Business Insider with this headline:
“The organizer of
the 'Stop the Steal' rally that led up to the Capitol riot said he will comply
with a congressional subpoena because he doesn't have the money needed to spend
on legal bills”
· “Stop the Steal” organizer Ali Alexander
(his background is here) says he
will not challenge his congressional subpoena.
· He received his subpoena from the January 6 House
Select Committee charged with investigating the Capitol riot.
· “The only reason I'm going is because I don't
want to go to jail,” Alexander said in a Telegram message.
The January 6 rally was where Trump spoke before a crowd of
his supporters, telling them to “raise Hell.” That rally led to the siege of the Capitol, which left five people, including one police officer dead.
Rioters were emboldened by Trump's calls to protest the results of the 2020 election, despite Joe Biden's victory.
While members of Congress were
meeting inside the Capitol to certify the results and verify Biden's presidency,
supervised by then VP Mike Pence, Trump supporters attempted their coup and stormed the Capitol.
The January 6 House Select Committee is made up of a group of
Republican and Democratic representatives. It has been issuing subpoenas to
collect documentation and testimony in its investigation of the riot.
Alexander further said in his telegram: “The only reason I'm
going is because I don't want to go to jail. So under the threat of
imprisonment and spending tens and tens and tens of thousands of dollars on
lawyers, I will be privately deposed before this committee in December.”
So far, at least 702 people have been charged in relation to the riot. In February, CNN reported that FBI affidavits and court documents showed insurrectionists scrambled to delete photos and social-media posts proving their participation in the Capitol riot.
Some reportedly broke their cellphones, scrubbed their social-media accounts, and tried to wipe hard drives that might contain photos and other proof of their involvement.
Others, however, boasted of their involvement, thus making it easier for the
FBI to track them, apprehend them, and charge them.

My 2 Cents: Smart move by Mr. Alexander – very smart.
Now he should cooperate fully with the FBI and
committee investigators as much as possible to identity for them members of
Congress and anyone from Trump's former administration, and / or those from Trump's White House.
Making a deal with the FBI or any committee prosecutors will be very beneficial to Alexander in many legal ways assuming he tells the committee and any investigators the truth – the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Again, a very smart decision on Alexander’s part.
Thanks for stopping by.
