Excellent and timely article here from
The Guardian with this headline:
“U.S. wealthiest 1% failing to pay $160 billion a year
in taxes, report finds”
The wealthiest 1% of Americans are responsible for more than
$160 billion of lost tax revenue annually – (cite: U.S.
Treasury Department report).
Natasha Sarin, deputy assistant secretary for economic
policy, said: “A well-functioning tax system requires that everyone pays the
taxes they owe.”
According to the report, the wealthiest 1% of U.S. taxpayers
are responsible for an estimated $163 billion in unpaid taxes each year – that
amounts to some 28% of the “tax gap.”
Sarin further said: “That tax gap, the difference between taxes
that are owed and collected, amounts to around $600 billion annually and will
mean approximately $7 trillion in lost tax revenue over the next decade.”

My 2 Cents: Hell, why not? Those taxpayers – or, tax evaders depending on your view – made tons of money in the country they profess to love as a patriot.
So, why can't they be like all taxpayers and pay their fair share? A simple fair premise, isn’t it? I think so.
I pay my fair share – and I’m sure you do, too. So why can't the top crust pay their fair share instead of skating through those giant GOP tax loopholes?
Seems like an easy fix to me.
Thanks for stopping by.
