Bob Woodward is now writing his third Trump book following his
first two: “Fear” and then “Rage.” The new one is still untitled:
“New Woodward
book to cover last days of Trump presidency”
Woodward's first book on Trump written in 2018. The title was “Fear” It detailed the measures taken by top officials
and White House aides to prevent what they saw as a president unhinged, unable
to control his own impulses, and unaware of how much danger his rash decisions
could bring.
Woodward’s second Trump book was titled “Rage” and it came out in 2020.
It took the readers inside the
Oval Office during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, confirming that
Trump understood how contagious and deadly the virus was long before the
American people were made aware.
For this third book, Woodward, a two-time Pulitzer
Prize-winning journalist, is joined by Robert Costa from The Washington Post.
They are looking at the extensive end of the Trump presidency and its
transition to the Biden administration.
According to a description from the publisher, also of
Woodward’s two earlier Trump books, Simon & Schuster, this third book will also
stretch into the early months of the Biden presidency.
Trump declined to sit down for an interview with Woodward
for “Fear” but he gave the journalist unprecedented access for “Rage,”
granting 18 free-ranging interviews, some in-person, and many over
the phone.
It's unclear whether Trump agreed to give Woodward and his
co-author, Robert Costa, interviews for the upcoming new book.
Trump did seat sat down with Trump on the campaign trail during the
2016 presidential election. That interview served as the inspiration for both
titles of Woodward's earlier books.
Trump told Woodward and Costa in 2016: “Real power is, and I
don't even want to use the word, is fear.”
Trump also said: “I bring rage out. I do bring rage
out. I always have. I don't know if that's an asset or a liability, but
whatever it is, I do.”
My 2 Cents: “Con man Don”
says he deals in “Fear and Rage” – hence the title of the two Woodward books.
It’s anyone’s guess what the title of this third book will be.
My hunch for the title (tongue
in cheek of course) is one of these: (1) “I was Cheated in 2020,” (2) “The 2020
Election was Rigged and Fraudulent,” or (3) “I Didn’t Lose – Biden is Illegally
in Office.”
We shall see – but coming from
Woodward this third book also should also be award winning work. Woodward's the very best dating
back to Nixon and the “Watergate” era.
Thanks for stopping by.
