Trump Insurrection Chief: Republicans Tried to Overturn Election Before Revolt

Sen. & Rep. Supported Trump's Lies

Highlights from this NY TIMES article with this headline – note: The 8 senators and 139 representatives who voted to sustain one or both objections are pictured in the article (my Rep. is circled above):

The 147 Republicans Who Voted to Overturn the Election Results

When a mob of Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building, they forced an emergency recess in the Congressional proceedings to officially certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. The disruption came shortly after some Republican lawmakers made the first of a planned series of highly unusual objections, based on spurious allegations of widespread voter fraud, to states’ election results.

The two chambers were separately debating an objection to Arizona’s results when proceedings were halted and the Capitol was locked down.

When the Senate reconvened at 8 p.m., and the House of Representatives an hour later, the proceedings — including the objection debates — continued, although some lawmakers who had previously planned to vote with the objectors stood down following the occupation of the Capitol.

Plans to challenge a number of states were scrapped after AZ was, but the PA results advanced to a vote, but it too failed.

My 2 cents: My view and that of many others is that if anyone of those 147 Republicans had an ounce of honor, dignity, and loyalty that that they all in House and Senate floor speeches then they would resign and stop giving loyalty to this law-breaking serial lying insurrection advocating president instead of to the public and their oath of office.

The assault injured 50 policemen and left one of them dead. Four others died in the riot, one shot by police and the others of medical emergencies, a CP officer committed suicide

That’s all I can say right now. Now we must let the justice system play out to prosecute them accordingly.

Thanks for stopping by.
