GOP & MAGA Bunch: Political Turmoil and National Division Never Their Fault

It's always everyone else's fault never theirs
(Routine for this new Trump owned GOP)

If you don’t believe the article below, or my opinion about it, then read the full story from MSNBC NEWS written by Steve Benen with this headline. Then decide for yourself (formatted to fit the blog):

“Maddow Blog | As Putin faces crisis, some Republicans tout conspiracy theories”

Key parts from the article:

President Biden and his national security team are deeply engaged in the developments, though as NBC News reports, he and they have chosen strategic silence.  This, of course, was a sensible approach.

Some voices on the right thought the smart thing to do would be to start peddling conspiracy theories about the developments in Russia.

EXAMPLES:

1. Rachel Campos-Duffy on FOX News questioned whether: The United States was involved in the Russian crisis,” then adding: “I don't trust what I hear from the United States government.”

2. Maria Bartiromo, the very next day, also on FOX was even more direct on this point, arguing in a video clip: The threat of a Russian civil war was part of an elaborate scheme to shift attention away from Hunter Biden. The White House wanted to give the media something else to cover, and this is the M.O. This is exactly the way they do things. The State Department was drumming up all the drama about a possible coup effort in Russia.”

3. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) right on track with another of her infamous conspiracies, and one who’s been accused of being a part of the so-called Putin Caucus, published a tweet saying:After our government has been funding a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine for over a year, I sure hope our government isn’t behind a coup attempt currently happening in Russia. Regime change in a nuclear armed country may lead to terrible consequences the American people don’t want.”

Let’s be clear on two key and obvious points:

The first point: As GOP & rightwing conspiratorial ideas go, this one appears to be quite bonkers. None of the people peddling the theory have pointed to anything that even resembles evidence; they simply see value in reflexively looking for ways trying to undermine the White House and their raw hatred for President Biden and his entire family, too.

The second point: The above rightwing rhetoric could prove dangerous. Putin is the only real beneficiary of loud voices in the United States raising the prospect of American officials trying to destabilize Russia.

Lastly: If GOP leaders, and others on the extreme far right, have the courage and wherewithal to denounce their base’s conspiracy theories, now it seems like an excellent time to speak up.

My 2 Cents: On that last point – the GOP or any of their “leaders” won’t stand up against their ineffective Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) who recently has pushed two totally insane ideas from the MAGA base:

* Move to expunge Trump’s impeachments from the public record and if they never happened (offered by Taylor Greene and Stefanik).

* Move impeach AG Garland based on his stance in the Hunter Biden recent guilty pleas in the 5-year DE investigation at my earlier post here

The GOP props up Trump anyway possible by blasting every DEM in sight starting with President Biden and of course his whole family – all the while giving the Trump cabal, from bottom and everyone in between a pass.

All the while they blame DEMS for every disruptive and divisive thing in congress and across the nation today.

The Republicans easily and forcefully blame everyone for their own craziness, wild politics, public statements, and nutty policies.

Then they have the unmitigated gall to act like innocent bystanders blaming every DEM in sight.

They are anything but innocent just like their new absolute leader hands down: Donald J. Trump.

Thanks for stopping by.
