We're Not Guilty: Why Seek Trump Preemptive Pardon for January 6 Scheme

Reps Biggs; Gaetz; Gohmert
 Perry; Taylor-Greene; Brooks
(In Congress & should be expelled)

This article addresses names people close to Trump who sought preemptive pardons following the Capitol riot reported on here from the Business Insider and by the January 6 House Select Committee and their witness testimony with this headline:

“At least nine people close to Trump reportedly requested preemptive pardons following the January 6 Capitol insurrection”

· Former Trump aides named six GOP members of the House currently serving who sought preemptive pardons (pictured above).

· A former Trump aide also testified that former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Trump’s former attorney, Rudy Giuliani, also asked for preemptive pardons.

FYI: Pardons are issued to persons who have been convicted of a Federal crime that is granted by the President, not for protection from a possible prosecution of a crime.

The DOJ source on pardons is here – it’s quite lengthy but educational.

At least six Republicans still serving in Congress requested preemptive pardons (pictured above) from Trump in the wake of the Capitol insurrection, according to testimony from former Trump aides.

The House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, riot hosted six public hearings so far (10 total later) revealing their findings, which also included public damning testimony from former staffers in the Trump administration.

GOP Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) were among the six who asked Trump to pardon them for their efforts in trying to overturn the 2020 election.

Also, during the hearing, former CofS Mark Meadows aide, Cassidy Hutchinson, testified that former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows were among those who seeking a preemptive pardons after the pro-Trump mob descended upon the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Hutchinson previously testified that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) also had discussed pardons with the White House but that he never officially asked for one.

Jordan afterwards responded to his name mentioned in the hearing accusing the January 6 House panel of misrepresenting a video clip of him saying the ultimate date of significance is January 6 in a presidential election in determining the winner, and adding: This committee, I think the country understands, is purely partisan. And they're frankly not paying much attention to what's being said.”

Classic example of this comes from attorney John Eastman expressed this way: Recall that Eastman, was the ringleader who pushed a plan to overturn the 2020 election results with his so-called “fake elector scheme.”

He asked Rudy Giuliani in an email:I've decided I should be on the pardon list, if that is still in the works.”

Eastman then was deposed by the January 6 committee, and he ultimately pleaded the Fifth Amendment 100 times, and he still has not responded Business Insider's request for comment.

More details on each of those six is at the article link cited above.

My 2 cents: In my view those current six members of the GOP still in the House should be prosecuted for their role in the scheme to overturn the 2020 election and by the fact that they sought a pardon before being convicted proves beyond any doubt in my mind that they are guilty and therefore wanted a pardon in advance to protect themselves.

Justice must be served against them and if possible ASAP. They do not deserve to serve in our government in any capacity.

Thanks for stopping by.
