Startling and
penetrating testimony from two GA election officials at the June 21, 2022 House
Public Hearing re: the January 6 Capitol attack posted in part below from
the Washington Post and a PBS News Hour video clip with this headline:
“Two GA election workers (Mother
and Daughter) describe hateful threats after Trump’s false claims”
The daughter, Shaye Moss, said her life forever changed on
December 10, 2020, when Rudy Giuliani, then Trump’s top campaign lawyer,
publicly claimed that she and her mother (Ruby Freeman), also a fellow poll
worker in Fulton County, GA had rigged the outcome in her state.
Moss’s supervisor suggested that day that she check her
social media accounts to see if she had received any threats, as others in the
office had. She was stunned by what she saw when she pulled up her Facebook
Messenger account.
Ms. Moss said at the January 6 House Select Committee hearing on June 21, 2022 many of the messages toward her were “racist and hateful.” (Ms. Moss and her mother are both black).
She continued: “It was just
a lot of horrible things there. A lot of threats wishing death upon me, telling
me I’ll be in jail with my mother, and saying things like, “Be glad it’s 2020
and not 1920.’”
Ms. Moss said that was only the beginning. She said she eventually stopped going to the grocery store, where she feared acquaintances might say her name and call attention from believers of Trump’s voter-fraud claims. Election deniers showed up at the home of her grandmother and tried to push their way in to search for evidence of fraud.
Both she and her mother, Ruby
Freeman, were forced into hiding. They quit their jobs with the Fulton County
Department of Registration and Elections, where Moss had proudly served as a
poll worker for more than a decade.
Her mother said: “There is nowhere I feel safe.”
More seen and heard here:
My 2 Cents: The testimony was stark, very concerning, and emotional regarding
the president of United States and his nastiness towards Ruby Freeman and labeling
her a criminal.
Trump must be severely prosecuted, tried, convicted, and hopefully
imprisoned for many years.
And, thank goodness for such loyal election workers as Shaye Moss and
her mother “Lady” Ruby Freeman in GA.
Thanks for stopping by.
