ORIGINIAL POST:
Nashville Christmas car (RV) bombing detailed report here from
the Washington Post – a few highlights follow below:
• No know deaths reported.
• Some 40 damaged businesses.
• Three people hospitalized with injuries.
• Disruptions to Internet and Cell service.
Key point: The RV had a computerized message that said: “Evacuate now. This vehicle has a bomb and will explode.”
Soon after that, the RV message
changed to a 15-minute countdown to detonation.
Nashville Police Chief John Drake said police had not
identified a suspect or a motive. He said it was not clear whether anyone was
inside the vehicle when it detonated.
In a video posted on social media, which The Washington Post has not independently verified, a voice can be heard saying: “This area must be evacuated now. If you can hear this message, evacuate now.”
The message was
followed by the sounds of an explosion, and the video of the street scene
turned to a blur.
Nashville Mayor John Cooper said at a news conference: “We are very lucky that there were not more injuries. One more event in Nashville’s 2020 history.”
He and city police and other city officials called the incident
an “intentional and deliberate bomb attack.” They all vowed to bring a plethora
of local, state and federal law enforcement resources to bear to find a
suspect.
Full story continues at the Washington
Post article linked above and here.
My 2 cents: The scene and events look and sound more like Baghdad than Nashville.
My theory and only a theory
is that this was carefully planned and executed with one purpose the way it
happened and especially with the pre-warning about the bomb in 15-minutes: To
show everyone nation-wide with a clear message: “See what we can do – the next
time will be worse and without any warning. You have been warned once but never
again.”
This was not a one-time
incident – far too big for that. It is a prelude to something worse to come.
Who is carrying out this
kind of bombing? That is the key question.
My hunch is that it’s a
large radical anti-government faction with many component members around the
country. We shall see – stay vigilant no matter where you happen to be.
Reminded me of the 1995 OK City bombing by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nicholas that killed 168 (including 19 children in the building's day-care center), and injured many hundreds of others. An anti-government act the worse ever before 9/11.
Thanks for stopping by.
