Gun Violence in 2019 Outnumbers the Days Already in 2019 — A Very Sad Statistic

Politicians and “wannabe” politicians who want to be in office, and other high officials love to brag about themselves and their accomplishments and how great they are and “American values” are, too.

Sadly, they as silent as church mice when it comes to solving the nation’s #1 domestic issue: Guns and mass shootings.

CBS News reports that the number of mass shootings across the U.S. so far in 2019 has outpaced the number of days this year.

This puts 2019 on pace to be the first year since 2016 with an average of more than one mass shooting a day.

As of Sunday (August 4, 2019), which was the 216th day of this year, there have been 251 mass shootings in the U.S., according to data from the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive, which tracks every mass shooting in the country and who defines a mass shooting as any incident in which at least four people were shot (excluding the shooter).

The toll of 251 mass shootings include five high-profile gun-related rampages in the past eight days, in which more than 100 people were shot (and the total thus far is just over 1,045 shot and 280 killed).

Trending Mass Shooting News:

* A shooting in a historic district of Dayton, Ohio, with 9 people killed and 27 injured. Shooter killed by police.

* A shooting at Walmart in El Paso, Texas, with 20 people killed and 26 wounded. It was the deadliest shooting of the year. Shooter now in police custody.

* A shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in the San Francisco Bay Area, with three people killed and 15 injured. Shooter killed himself.

Not mass shooting sprees during those 8 days:

* A shooting at a Brooklyn block party, with one person killed and 11 injured.

* A shooting at a Walmart in Southaven, Mississippi, with two people killed and two injured.

Before the El Paso attack, the deadliest mass shooting of 2019 happened in a municipal building in Virginia Beach, where a former city employee killed 12 people and injured four.

The Gun Violence Archive says there have been 33,028 total shooting incidents in 2019 as of Sunday, resulting in 8,734 deaths and 17,308 injuries.

My 2 cents: This is now getting more out of hand and insane. We are the gun capitol of the world and now apparently leading in mass shooting also. Our leadership role has shifted hasn’t it?

Yet, Congress sits on their collective hands. And, even the highest court in the land rules in favor of gun rights as the NRA advocates “more guns, not less.”

Tons of money pours into Congress passed along by gun advocates who blame other things than guns for the growing violence that we see in these horrible incidents.

All that is a very sad combo that only a few will admit exists or even try stop any of it. And, again while the majority of officials sit on their hands for more 2nd Amendment protection citing public safety.

Thanks for stopping by.
