Speaker Pelosi "I'm not for impeachment:" More to Her Quote Than Meets the Eye

Our History on Presidential Impeachments & Removal
(Two: But Not Removed — One Resigned During Process)

Are You Paying Attention Mr. Trump
(Getting Close to Midnight)

In an interview with the Washington Post and more specifically with NBC News, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said:I'm not for impeachment. Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don't think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he's just not worth it.”

(My emphasis added).

When asked if she thought Trump was “fit to be president,” Pelosi said:No. I don't think he is. I mean, ethically unfit. Intellectually unfit. Curiosity-wise unfit. No, I don't think he's fit to be president of the United States.”

She then concluded while chiding herself as “… coming across too negatively.”

Meanwhile, billionaire Tom Steyer, who's been running television advertisements calling for Trump to be impeached, blasted Pelosi for her comments, saying:Speaker Pelosi thinks he's just not worth it? Well, is defending our legal system worth it? Is holding the President accountable for his crimes and cover-ups worth it? Is doing what’s right worth it? Or shall America just stop fighting for our principles and do what's politically convenient?”

My 2 cents: As a matter of record I am not a big fan of Nancy Pelosi for various reasons but in this case she is 100% correct for these reasons – my assessment: “… unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don't think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.”

Plus: The DEMS can impeach Trump – the evidence is there for several articles (abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and shades of collusion with Russia, Wikipedia, and others by directly undermining the 2016 election).

Unless the all-GOP controlled senate gets on board like with Nixon and shows they can muster the 2/3 majority vote (67 senators) to remove Trump, then the DEM action falls flat just like it did for Clinton when GOP impeached him. He was not removed. Went on and was and reelected (with a very big margin, too).

Then, Trump could declare victory in 2020 as the “winner” and say: See I was right all along and told everyone so.”

And, he would be right.

We shall see – stay tuned. Thanks for stopping by.
