Trump-Miller Immigrant Policy: Attack on Legal Immigrants Waiting for Citizenship

Lucky now U.S. citizens — those waiting maybe not so lucky
(Check with the two guys seen below)

The two most-hateful anti-immigrant people ever
(Both come from immigrant families, too)

#1 hypocrite is Donald J. Trump: His ancestors were from Germany and Scotland, and two of his three wives were immigrants with limited English, little or no work or education skills or experience – and Melania’s parents are“chain immigrants based on her status” (see #5 below).

#2 hypocrite behind the latest “limit immigrants” (see linked below) is from the wildly outspoken racist anti-immigrant advocate, Trump’s senior policy aide Stephen Miller: Researchers uncovered photo of his great grand-father, Nison (aka Max) Miller stares out from the screen, sullen and stern, in faded black and white photo on the paper that reads: “Order of Court Denying Petition” on the official government form dated: November 12, 1932. Attached was Miller applying for naturalization as an American citizen. Beneath the photo, the reason given for his denial was one simple word: “Ignorance.”

More from Miller and many GOPers with their false claims about immigrants and “free stuff” – depending on the state, undocumented immigrants, DACA immigrants (DREAMER), H-1B workers, and other temporary workers can immediately apply for food assistance only for pregnant women, and in most states, free or reduced-price lunches for kids in school are provided regardless of immigration status.

However, those immigrants do not qualify for the vast majority of public benefits — including food stamps, Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare. That’s true even though undocumented immigrants contribute billions of dollars to these programs. Even green card holders, who are permanent residents of the US, have to wait five years to qualify for nearly all social welfare programs. There are a few exceptions, including immigrants who served in the US military or are disabled.

The only groups of newcomers who can enter the United States and immediately receive social assistance are refugees and asylum seekers. Even then, some benefits —like cash assistance — require refugees to work to continue receiving the benefit.

What Miller has said:Every year we issue a million green cards to foreign nationals from all the countries of the world, but we do so without regard to … whether they can pay their own way or be reliant on welfare.”

That is blatantly false. Financial stability is a key factor when U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services makes decisions about awarding green cards.

#3 hypocrite and a member of Congress and an extremely rabid anti-immigrant advocate is Rep. Steve King (R-IA): King quoted once said: “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.” Researchers found in his family genealogy website that his own grandmother was one such baby, arriving in 1894 from Germany.

#4 hypocrite is from FOX TV, a show host Tucker Carlson: He once asked: “Why does America benefit with tons of people from failing countries come here?” Researchers found a memoir from Carlson’s great-grandfather talking about how he left the poverty of Italy for the promise of America.

#5 hypocrite is from White House presidential aide Dan Scavino: He is quoted as saying: “We need to end “chain migration.” Researchers nailed him: Victor Scavino arrived from Canelli, Italy in 1904, then brother Hector in 1905, then brother Gildo in 1912, then sister Esther in 1913, then sister Clotilde, then father Giuseppe in 1916 – all lived together in NY. Not chain migration?” (P.S. Melania Trump’s parents moved to NY for American citizenship. Immigrants sponsor family members: right and 100% legal).

#6 hypocrite from radical hardcore conservative commentator, Tomi Lahren:  She has said:You don’t just come into this country with low skills, low education, not understanding the language and come into our country because someone says it makes them feel nice. That’s not what this country is based on.” Researchers found: “The 1930 census says Tomi’s 3x great-grandmother had been here for 41 years and still spoke only German. Her 2nd great-grandmother had been here for 10 years and spoke no English.”

#7 hypocrite (lucky #7, right) is White House CofS John Kelly:  He said on NPR: “Today’s immigrants are not people easily assimilated into our modern society; they are uneducated, from rural areas, and don’t speak English.” Researchers posted documents (screenshots) of Kelly’s ancestors who all fit that exact same profile – the one he is now against.

Additionally: All we see and hear from the Trump side anti-this or anti-that and hate for this or that (mostly immigrants and lower-income working class Americans) and then on top of that now is his call for an end to the constitutionally-guaranteed right to due process and immigrants (as if they were “invading” the country – his words not mine).

All that is symptomatic of an administration that disdains the Constitution and our entire judicial and legal system (that is unless it works for them and their side’s agenda which is damn clear: hate everyone while professing to help everyone).

My 2 cents: And, now this latest stunt based on what you ask – well pretty simple: Erase more of Obama and sustain an anti-immigrant policy thus here from NBC News via MSN, in part:

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is expected to issue a proposal in coming weeks that would make it harder for legal immigrants to become citizens or get green cards if they have ever used a range of popular public welfare programs, including Obamacare, four sources with knowledge of the plan told NBC News.

The move, which would not need Congressional approval, is part of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller's plan to limit the number of migrants who obtain legal status in the U.S. each year.

Details of the rulemaking proposal are still being finalized, but based on a recent draft seen last week and described to NBC News, immigrants living legally in the U.S. who have ever used or whose household members have ever used Obamacare, children's health insurance, food stamps and other benefits could be hindered from obtaining legal status in the U.S. Immigration lawyers and advocates and public health researchers say it would be the biggest change to the legal immigration system in decades and estimate that more than 20 million immigrants could be affected. They say it would fall particularly hard on immigrants working jobs that don't pay enough to support their families.

Many are like Louis Charles, a Haitian green-card holder seeking citizenship who, despite working up to 80 hours a week as a nursing assistant, and he had to use public programs to support his disabled adult daughter.

The impact:

A spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security said, “The administration is committed to enforcing existing immigration law, which is clearly intended to protect the American taxpayer by ensuring that foreign nationals seeking to enter or remain in the U.S are self-sufficient. Any proposed changes would ensure that the government takes the responsibility of being good stewards of taxpayer funds seriously and adjudicates immigration benefit requests in accordance with the law.”

Historical Note: How many of your ancestors arrived on our shores in NY harbor with only $10 dollars in their pocket or only high school or less education? My Dad (born in 1901 and died in 1985) worked hard for 60 years as a hod-carrier, a common laborer, a coal-miner, and small family farmer, and he raised great family – his education level: the 6th grade which was common for his generation.

Miller, along with several of his former congressional colleagues who now hold prominent positions in the Trump administration, have long sought to decrease the number of immigrants who obtain legal status in the U.S. each year.

And even before the rule is in place, the administration has made it more difficult for immigrants to gain green cards and for green-card holders to gain citizenship.

Finally: This story contents and impact prove beyond any doubt that this Trump administration is the worse in American history and yet millions sit on their thumbs and wonder “what can we do?” Well it seems not much. But a song comes to mind: “American Pie” (Don McLean in 1971 – super 8-minute song).

One verse from that song ties into this for today:

Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
'Cause fire is the devil's only friend
Oh and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan's spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died
He was singin'

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die
And, unless you are an original Native American, then your ancestors are immigrants who came from all around the globe seeking the American dream and helped make us great and still today – no thanks to Trump, just for the record.

Thanks for stopping by.
