Trump's Personal Lawyer: John “Droopy” Dowd
President
Trump’s personal lawyer, John Dowd, said it was time for Deputy AG Rod
Rosenstein to end the special counsel’s Russia investigation for good.
In a
statement, Dowd said Rosenstein should: “… follow the courageous example set by AG
Sessions when he fired former Deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe.”
As for Trump, he cheered (via a tweet naturally) that McCabe’s dismissal was a “great day for
democracy.”
From
Talking Points Memo (TPM) – the background apparently used as the basis for Dowd’s
Statement follows:
“I pray that
Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous
example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General
Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation manufactured
by McCabe’s boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier.” (Dowd to TPM in an email)
However, the
Daily Beast was the first to report Dowd’s comments, and oddly
enough, Dowd initially told the Daily Beast
that he was speaking on behalf of the president.
But, subsequently, Dowd told TPM he was
speaking for himself.
I note: Trump is one huge documented liar (2,100 lies in his first year in office and still counting), and now apparently so is his personal lawyer, John Dowd.
Trump’s
legal team has until now urged Robert Mueller’s team to conclude their
investigation into Russia’s election interference as quickly as possible, but
not asked that Mueller be fired.
This new response comes in the wake of
Sessions’ firing of McCabe for a “lack of candor in his responses to an
internal Justice Department investigation into how the FBI handled probes
relating to the 2016 election.”
Noteworthy: Earlier
in the week, Rosenstein said that Mueller was not an “unguided missile and that
he had not seen any justification for ending the special counsel’s
investigation.”
My 2 cents: Based on this last statement by Rosenstein,
I suspect his days may be numbered, too.
After all, Trump’s real middle name is “Hoover vac Don.”
100% stay tuned – we have a long way to go.
Thanks for stopping by.
