USS Trumptanic Keeps Hitting Icebergs the "Starboard (Right)" Side Now in Shreds

Sometimes, Presidents are overrated, too, sir...

Boy when GOPers lie, do they lay whoppers. Case in point from two stories below.

Original story from Trump (March 2017) (via MSM news) – He falsely claimed and still does that Mr. Obama “tapped my wires at Trump Tower.” He ran with that story for weeks and still does to seek political mileage.

That was back in March – up to date is here (via Media Matters) – The headlines:

“Right-wing and fringe media falsely claim FBI’s legal Manafort wiretap vindicates Trump's illegal-wiretap run by Obama”

Which as we all know factually is one huge lie – but what the hell, Trump is a world class liar so this is not new – but it is news (he thinks).

I'm sure you have heard this story now running all day on RW Talk Radio – like mostly on Fox and similar mouthpieces.

Specifics: Right-wing and fringe media are claiming yet again that Trump was correct when he accused former President Obama of “tapping his wires” back in March in Trump Tower. He and RWers now argue falsely that a legal wiretap targeted at former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort (recent news) is proof of Trump’s claim since Manafort was tapped even while in Trump Tower. However, the current FBI wiretap was pursuant to a warrant and targeted at Manafort with a bonafide court order and was not the case for Trump in any sense and at any time by Mr. Obama. This is at least the fifth time in six months that right-wing media has attempted to that March 2017 Trump lie linked above.

My Conclusion – Key Points: Mr. Obama or any government official, even Trump cannot order a wiretap – they may request the FBI initiate one, but they cannot order one automatically. 

Only a Federal court can authorize a wiretap (law details are here) or by a FISA court for intelligence and counter-intelligence cases, and then they demand a very high standard to be met before approving such a tap. But, don’t tell the GOP/RW about standards or facts; they have they own views and opinions… so, to hell with the truth, um? 

So, will Manafort “make a deal to save his own hide” or “take one for The Donald team as it were?” If he does rat out Trump, then he will join a long of other informants… seen from History.com here.

I believe Manafort (or Flynn) will give up Trump – others also may.
