The #2 Purveyor of White House
Lies (Trump is #1)
(Sarah
Huckabee-Sanders)
From old
Huckabee-Sanders and her daily rant with another trail of lies for the media
and worse, the public from here in part (the
Washington Post):
“It’s the law, and that’s what the
law states.” — White
House press secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders (June 14, 2018)
From the Post:
The Trump
administration seems to be caught inside a “Twilight Zone”
episode, insisting without evidence that its own policy of
separating undocumented immigrant children from their parents is somehow a
long-standing law and that any blame should go to Democrats.
The
president got this ball rolling himself in a series of tweets and statements
over the past few months.
Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their
job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch
& Release. Getting more dangerous. “Caravans” coming. Republicans must go
to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!
9:56 AM - Apr 1, 2018
Put pressure on the Democrats to end the horrible law that
separates children from there *he misspelled their*
parents once they cross the Border into the U.S. Catch and Release,
Lottery and Chain must also go with it and we MUST continue building the WALL!
DEMOCRATS ARE PROTECTING MS-13 THUGS.
9:59 AM - May 26, 2018
“We have to
break up families. The Democrats gave us that law,” Trump
said during a roundtable on sanctuary cities in California on May 16.
“It’s a horrible thing where you have to break up families. The Democrats gave
us that law, and they don’t want to do anything about it.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These
claims are violently divorced from reality, as we’ve explained previously.
Alas, White House
press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders seems to have missed or disregarded
our fact-check.
Typically Sanders:
“First of
all, there is no law that requires families be separated at the border,” one reporter
told Sanders. “This was the administration’s choice to move from civil
matters on immigration, on to criminal, to criminally prosecute people who come
across the border illegally. … So why did the administration find that this was
necessary?”
Sanders: “Again, the laws are the ones that
have been on the books for over a decade, and the president is enforcing them.
We would like to … fix our immigration problem. However, until Democrats are
willing to actually fix this problem, it’s going to continue.”
What laws is
she talking about? Continue at the story link above and this is related from
Bannon – check
it out here (what a pitiful man).
Some history:
From 2010
through 2016, figures show that out of 2,362,966 adults apprehended at the
southern border, 492,970 (21%) were referred for prosecution. The numbers
included adults not just those who crossed with minor children, so they’re
not a measure of how many families were separated under Obama.
Further, during
the Obama administration there was no policy in place that resulted in the
systematic separation of families at the border, like we are now seeing under
the Trump administration.
Generally
parents during the Obama 8 years were not prosecuted for illegal entry.
There were some separations but ONLY
if: (1) there was
suspicion that the children were being trafficked, or (2) a claimed
parent-child relationship did not actually exist. But nothing like the levels
we are seeing today occurred in those years. Trump administration officials say
that they’re trying to keep parents in the loop about their kids, however
evidence shows otherwise with wrenching scenarios and stories.
Finally, this story the GOP likes to
cite about Elián
González (age 7 in 2000).
And, just as usual they get their info from FOX
and in true GOP style PR spinning and skipping, they bypass the finer legal
details while citing “we are the party of law and order” NOT the DEMS.
I guess they call themselves: “The Pick and Choose Party” – that is
which laws to obey and to implement on their terms not the law or court’s.
Elián González’s
mother, Elizabeth, drowned in November 1999 while attempting to flee Cuba for
the U.S. along with Elián and her
boyfriend.
Once in
custody, the INS initially placed Elián with his paternal relatives in Miami who in turn sought to
keep him – and, that was against his father's demands that Elián be returned to him in Cuba.
Court and Legal History: The Southern District Federal Court of Florida ruled that
only Elian’s father, not the extended relatives in FL, had the legal right to petition
for Elián’s asylum. That ruling was upheld by the 11th Circuit Court of
Appeals.
Then after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to
hear the case, and by order of AG Janel Reno, Federal Agents took Elián from his relatives (heavily armed and seen on
national TV), they then returned him to his father in Cuba in June 2000.
My 2 Cents: The GOP blames the media and DEMS while
professing and worshipping only FOX and of course their super well-funded and
skilled PR machine. This issue underscores my contention.
The worst part: their base laps it up… they are like
sheep: in line, listening, following, and not questioning or challenging
anything spewed at them. The Trump team has one rule: “Believe us and nothing
else. We are here for you.”
Sadly the Trump policy speaks form a different
format – help the top crust and their BFF’s – after all, they are the ones with
the money and backing to keep them in office to work and return favors for more
and more favors – that cycle is all too familiar.
Mouth pieces like Huckabee-Sanders, Conway, Miller, el
al is sickening … they have no honor or dignity otherwise they would resign and
say “I can’t keep lying for this government.”
FYI: I recently wrote this letter to the local editor.
Thanks for stopping by.
