WASHINGTON, March 3 (Reuters) - Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping Saturday after the ruling Communist party announced it was eliminating the two-term limit for the presidency, paving the way for Xi to serve indefinitely, according to audio aired by CNN. 

Trump’s response during his remarks at a closed-door fundraiser in Florida and aired by CNN is startling: “He's now president for life, president for life. And he's great. And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot someday.” (Cheers and applause from supporters erupted in the room). 

Trump concludes his remarks praising Xi as “a great gentleman” and then added: “He's the most powerful Chinese president in a hundred years.” Trump also said Xi had treated him tremendously well during his visit last November. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment late Saturday. 

Trump has often praised Xi but he told Reuters he was considering a big “fine as part of a probe into China’s alleged theft of intellectual property.” He also has been critical of China's trade policies in the past – now we’ll have to wait and see how he handles the “president for life thing with Xi and later when Putin reaches that level, too in his upcoming reelection.

I can't wait to hear Huckabee-Sanders next week: “Oh lighten up, that was a joke, and his tongue-in-cheek humor not his true feelings.” 

My 2 cents: As for me, it’s shows his true feeling since he hates being left out of first place – he cannot stand to be unequal on the world stage vis-à-vis other world leaders – never in second place about anything. Trump always has to be #1 – on top, out front and center always on all issues.

So, Trump for life? Then what – his family members follow “The TD playbook: The Trump Dynasty.” 

Hell, why not and in his way of thinking and response we’d hear: “That would be the greatest ever believe me – the greatest of all time.” 

As for me, I would prefer to hear that he will get “life” for his shenanigans and dealing along with Vladimir Putin and that whole plot – that would garnish a different kind of cheering but not from his brain dead base.
