Serious Threat Like bin-Laden or Fiery Hyperbole

Iran’s Supreme Leader: Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei
(Age: 74)

This story comes from The Daily Caller — take it for what it's worth.

Ali Khamenei appears pleasant enough, nothing like old dark eyes: former Ayatollah Ruhollah Mostafavi Moosavi Khomeini, who was the Iranian religious leader and politician who led the 1979 Iranian Revolution which overthrew the Shah (Mohammad Reza Pahlavi who fled to the U.S. and our Embassy was under siege for 444 days with 51 Americans held captive).  It has been downhill ever since vis-à-vis American relations of any sort.

This latest from the old geezer according to Fars News Agency. On Sunday, May 25th, he said that negotiations over the country’s illicit nuclear program are over and that the Islamic Republic’s ideals include destroying America.

Further and in response to a question by a parliamentarian he was speaking to, he was asked how long this battle and Jihad would continue. He said, “Battle and jihad are endless because evil and its front continue to exist.  This battle will only end when the society can get rid of the oppressors’ front with America at the head of it, which has expanded its claws on human mind, body and thought. … This requires a difficult and lengthy struggle and need for great strides.”

He then cited the scientific advancement of the country, saying in part: “The accelerated scientific advancement of the last 12 years cannot stop under any circumstances” (referring to the strides the Iranian regime has made toward becoming a nuclear power).

So, do we take him serious or not? The GOP, I am sure, will latch onto this like a dog with a bone. So, hang on tight. It could get bumpy.
