"Yeah, the FBI abused your rights, so what?"

This was from March 2007 - yes, 2007:

WASHINGTON -- The FBI improperly and, in some cases, illegally used the USA Patriot Act to secretly obtain personal information about people in the United States, a Justice Department audit concluded Friday. And for three years the FBI has under reported to Congress how often it forced businesses to turn over the customer data, the audit found.

FBI agents sometimes demanded the data without proper authorization, according to the 126-page audit by Justice Department Inspector General Glenn Fine. At other times, the audit found, the FBI improperly obtained telephone records in non-emergency circumstances.

Danz View: But, it kept us safe, right? So, the next time there are no threats, with this policy in place and no one being held accountable (precedence has been set), it's okay for the FBI to continue on its merry way abusing our rights willy-nilly?

If they are not held accountable, they won't be ... and remember: Once a right is gone or abused or taken away, it's gone forever - it's not apt to come back - ever. Something to think about.
